Two years gone!

niente da segnalare negli ultimi mesi ma con la stagione autunno/inverno alle porte si ricomincia.
Nel frattempo gustatevi un riassunto dei 2 anni appena trascorsi.... molto fatto ma ancora di più ancor da fare. A presto

Body Shell - Part 4

Ciao a tutti,
a causa di istantanei aggiornamenti su Instagram (@JFM_CLASSIC) e Facebook, il blog è rimasto indietro. Ovviamente dall'ultimo aggiornamento ci sono stati miglioramenti ma non troppi.
Il lavoro sui lamierati, tagliafuoco, portellone posteriore e parafanghi è terminato ma ha richiesto molta attenzione.... erano presenti tantissimi buchi fatti negli anni e che non corrispondevano all'originale quindi sono stati tutti chiusi confrontandoli cm per cm con la scocca vecchia ed originale. Tutto pronto quindi per la verniciatura ma prima monterò le porte per poi mettere in squadro tutta la scocca.

Hello everyone,
due to instant updates on Instagram (@JFM_CLASSIC) and Facebook, the blog has been left alone. Obviously from the last update there have been improvements but not too many.
Work on body, dash, lower tailgate and wing are finished but required close attention .... there were many holes made over the years that did not correspond to the original and so were all closed for comparing inch by inch with the old original body. All is ready for painting but first ride on the doors and then put squarely whole body.

 

 

Body Shell - Part 3

Ben ritrovati e buon anno,
si prosegue con il portellone posteriore che è stato smontato in tutti i suoi componenti e partito per la sabbiatura insieme alla tagliafuoco (che nome strano) ed ai parafanghi anteriori....il tutto mi dovrebbe rientrare la prossima settimana. Il portellone posteriore richiederà parecchi aggiustamenti perché, come sempre, sono perseguitato dalla ruggine....sembrava veramente ben messo ma sono saltati fuori tantissimi buchi e stucco oltre ad una montagna di ruggine all'interno.
Il programma dei prossimi mesi prevede il montaggio di tutta la scocca con relative porte e parafanghi, messa in squadro del tutto, smontaggio e poi via in verniciatura con la sola scocca. CIAO

Hi mates and Happy New Year,
continue with the lower tailgate that was dismantled in all its components and goes to sandblaster with front dash and wheelarch.... all  should return next week. The tailgate will take several adjustments because, as always, I'm the rust ;) .... seemed really looks good but I found many holes and a lot of rust inside.
Program for the coming months includes the assembly of the whole bodyshell with relative doors and front wheelarch, verify all, disassembling and then off for painting. Cheers

 

Body Shell - Part 2

Ciao a tutti,
nella ultime settimane abbiamo proseguito con i lavori sul portellone posteriore e dettagli vari, un lavoro di alta sartoria.
Venerdì scorso abbiamo sistemato i lamierati e finalmente riscopro la forma della macchina....si proseguirà con il montaggio e fissaggio di tutta la carrozza per poi andare in verniciatura entro un paio di mesi si spera.

in the last weeks we have continued with the work on the rear end frame, an haute couture job but Suffix A details are so important.
Last Friday we fixed the body and finally I see againg my beautiful car ....we'll continue with the installation and fixing of the whole bodyshell and then go to paint within a couple of months hopefully.

Body Shell - Part 1

Salto da un argomento all' altro.....purtroppo non posso ancora chiudere il capitolo "sospensioni" perché la ricerca di quelle posteriori non è andata a buon fine. Dopo varie verifiche di misure e diametri di un vecchio stock scovato a Cipro, ho abbandonato perché non combaciavano.
Il ponte comunque è in posizione ed il telaio appoggia sulle molle...ecco quindi che passiamo al capitolo "Body Shell".
Stesso procedimento usato per il telaio....ho sabbiato in modo da rendere visibili tutte le imperfezioni e farne uscire di nuove.... 2 lamierati + il telaio posteriore + la traversa anteriore che collega i due lamierati e tiene il parabrezza.
Venerdì sera quindi abbiamo iniziato a trasferire i vari dettagli da Suffix A sul telaio posteriore proveniente da un 1976/78 che ne era ovviamente e purtroppo sprovvisto...... 3 ore per una sola modifica non sono niente male.
Il trasferimento si è rivelato più complicato del previsto e venerdì ci aspetta "la curva"!!!

 I go from one topic to 'other ..... unfortunately I can still close the chapter "suspension" because the search for the rear is not successful. After several tests of lengths and diameters of an old stock found in Cyprus, I abandoned because not matched.
The axle is in place and the chassis rests on the springs ... so here we jump to the chapter "Body Shell".
The same procedure used for the chassis .... I sandblasted in order to make visible all the imperfections and bring out some new .... 2 body + rear end frame + the front cross member connecting the two body and holds the windscreen.
Friday night so we started transferring various Suffix A details  to the rear end frame from a 1976/78 which was obviously and sadly lacking ...... 3 hours for a single modification are not all bad.
The transfer was more complicated than expected and Friday we'll expect "the curve" !!!

Suspension - Part 2

Sospensioni anteriori fatte.....molle anteriori originali sabbiate e riverniciate.
Ammortizzatori "Woodhead" originali interamente in metallo verniciati in blue...un vero spettacolo!
Questo fine settimana monteremo la parte posteriore ma senza ammortizzatori perché al momento ne manca sempre 1 all'appello purtroppo.

Front suspension done ..... genuine coli spring sandblasted and repainted.
Genuine shocks absorber "Woodhead"  all-metal Blue painted ... awesome!
This weekend we'll do the rear suspension but not the shocks because at the time I'm still looking one unfortunately.

Suspension - Part 1

Miei cari ed affezionati lettori scusate l'assenza delle ultime settimane.
i lavori ovviamente non si sono fermati anzi, c'è da impazzire.....cercare ed ordinare le ultime viti, rondelle e bulloni necessari per il lavoro della settimana e disporle poi al giusto pezzo...qualcosa ti sfugge sempre!!
Venerdì scorso però era arrivato finalmente il momento di montare sospensioni e molle.....era.....con Davide infatti abbiamo preso e preparato i pezzi aftermarket acquistati tanti mesi fa e ci è preso lo sconforto. Sospensioni con cover di plastica che si alzano ed abbassano con un dito, molle con diametro ridotto....così ci siamo messi a cercare i vecchi pezzi smontati dalla macchina e li abbiamo confrontati.  Sospensioni ancora rigidissime interamente in metallo, molle anch'esse più spesse e con il mio peso sopra, molto più rigide.
Così abbiamo bloccato tutto, messo la foga di finire subito da parte, ed ho cominciato a cercare "la roba vecchia"....quella buona che non si fa più al giorno d'oggi.
Le molle sono andate in sabbiatura e per le sospensioni speriamo di aggiornarci presto.....diciamo che davanti siamo ok mentre per quelle posteriori ne manca una all' appello.
Il restauro va alla lunga....ma così meticoloso non si vedeva da tempo!! ;)

My dear and lovely readers sorry for the lack of recent weeks.
Restoration didn't stop of course, I'm almost crazy..... try and order the latest screws, washers and bolts required for the work week and then place them at the right place ... something always escapes you !!    Last Friday, however, it was finally time to mount the suspension and springs .....I thought.....  with David we have taken and prepared the aftermarket parts purchased many months ago and we were disperate. Suspension with plastic cover that raise and lower with a finger, a coil springs with small diameter .... so we started to look for the old parts removed from the car and compared them. Suspension still rigid and all-metal, springs are also thicker and with my weight on, much more rigid.
So we stopped everything, put the heat to finish by now, and I started looking for "the old stuff" .... good one that is no longer made today.
The springs have gone blasting and suspensions we hope to update soon ..... say that we are ok in front while the rear one is missing to appeal.
The restoration should be in the long run .... but so meticulous not seen from a long time !! ;)
