Suspension - Part 2

Sospensioni anteriori fatte.....molle anteriori originali sabbiate e riverniciate.
Ammortizzatori "Woodhead" originali interamente in metallo verniciati in blue...un vero spettacolo!
Questo fine settimana monteremo la parte posteriore ma senza ammortizzatori perché al momento ne manca sempre 1 all'appello purtroppo.

Front suspension done ..... genuine coli spring sandblasted and repainted.
Genuine shocks absorber "Woodhead"  all-metal Blue painted ... awesome!
This weekend we'll do the rear suspension but not the shocks because at the time I'm still looking one unfortunately.

Suspension - Part 1

Miei cari ed affezionati lettori scusate l'assenza delle ultime settimane.
i lavori ovviamente non si sono fermati anzi, c'è da impazzire.....cercare ed ordinare le ultime viti, rondelle e bulloni necessari per il lavoro della settimana e disporle poi al giusto pezzo...qualcosa ti sfugge sempre!!
Venerdì scorso però era arrivato finalmente il momento di montare sospensioni e molle.....era.....con Davide infatti abbiamo preso e preparato i pezzi aftermarket acquistati tanti mesi fa e ci è preso lo sconforto. Sospensioni con cover di plastica che si alzano ed abbassano con un dito, molle con diametro ridotto....così ci siamo messi a cercare i vecchi pezzi smontati dalla macchina e li abbiamo confrontati.  Sospensioni ancora rigidissime interamente in metallo, molle anch'esse più spesse e con il mio peso sopra, molto più rigide.
Così abbiamo bloccato tutto, messo la foga di finire subito da parte, ed ho cominciato a cercare "la roba vecchia"....quella buona che non si fa più al giorno d'oggi.
Le molle sono andate in sabbiatura e per le sospensioni speriamo di aggiornarci presto.....diciamo che davanti siamo ok mentre per quelle posteriori ne manca una all' appello.
Il restauro va alla lunga....ma così meticoloso non si vedeva da tempo!! ;)

My dear and lovely readers sorry for the lack of recent weeks.
Restoration didn't stop of course, I'm almost crazy..... try and order the latest screws, washers and bolts required for the work week and then place them at the right place ... something always escapes you !!    Last Friday, however, it was finally time to mount the suspension and springs .....I thought.....  with David we have taken and prepared the aftermarket parts purchased many months ago and we were disperate. Suspension with plastic cover that raise and lower with a finger, a coil springs with small diameter .... so we started to look for the old parts removed from the car and compared them. Suspension still rigid and all-metal, springs are also thicker and with my weight on, much more rigid.
So we stopped everything, put the heat to finish by now, and I started looking for "the old stuff" .... good one that is no longer made today.
The springs have gone blasting and suspensions we hope to update soon ..... say that we are ok in front while the rear one is missing to appeal.
The restoration should be in the long run .... but so meticulous not seen from a long time !! ;)

Niente parole questa volta, solo tanta soddisfazione ed un doverosissimo grazie a Davide per l'aiuto ed i preziosi consigli!!

Adesso tutto è veramente pronto per il montaggio dei ponti....stay tuned!!

Chassis painting night party

Ebbene si, il telaio è di colore nero!....così come anche il resto del capannone :)
In questi giorni dovrei riuscire a pulire il serbatoio così per venerdì sera, come da programma, ultima mano sul telaio e sul ponte posteriore che non si presentava bene + mano di fondo al serbatoio.
Si comincerà poi a montare le sospensioni sui semiassi così da essere pronti entro fine mese per sistemarci il telaio sopra!! E le fondamenta sono pronte!

Yes, the chassis is black! .... As well as the rest of the warehouse :)
Next days I should be able to clean the fuel tank so for Friday night, as scheduled, I'll do the last paint cover on the chassis and one the rear axle that it's not sound good + primer on the fuel  tank.
Then I begin to assemble the suspension on the axle so they'll be ready by the end of the month to accommodate the chassis above !!

UPDATE 03/10/2014:  Are you ready for the "Chassis painting night party" this evening?


I 7 mesi di lavoro sul telaio mi hanno distrutto e tolto ogni indecisione sul fatto di "riparare" la scocca e rischiare di ripeterne altrettanti.....ho colto così al balzo l'occasione ed ero già sul camion direzione Poppi (AR) per ritirare il lotto di lamierati messo in vendita dall'esperto e super-fornito Pierfrancesco alias Balena4x4 (mail in privato se vi serve).
Considerata la meticolosità e l'attenzione ai particolari, non mi andava giù l'idea di usare lamierati aftermarket con spessori ridotti e molto più leggeri....pur avendoli già comprati diversi mesi fa (ora in vendita quindi fate offerte ;)). Adesso quindi, una volta completato il telaio, sarò già pronto per assemblare la scossa! Infine, come promesso, ho ritirato anche i ponti!
Entro questo mese dovrei definitivamente completare i lavori sul telaio.

7 months of work on the chassis destroyed me and removed all indecision about body's repair and the risk of repeating many more ..... so I took the opportunity and I was already on the truck towards Poppi (AR) to collect the lot of body parts sold by the expert and super-provided Pierfrancesco alias Balena4x4 (private emails if you need it).
Given the thoroughness and attention to detail, I didn't like the idea of ​​using aftermarket metal parts with reduced thickness and much lighter .... although I already bought several months ago (now on sale then make offers;)). Now, when the chassis'll be ready, I'll be ready to assemble the body! Finally, as promised, I collected axls last week!
At the end of this month I finally complete the work on the chassis! Bye

 

Chassis - Part 8

Ciao a tutti ed eccomi di nuovo al lavoro dopo le ferie estive....ho ripreso ieri con il telaio nella riproduzione delle "trappole dell'acqua"....così definite da un osservatore inglese.....5 su 8 da ricostruire. I lavori al telaio sono giunti oramai al termine, sono rimaste da ricostruire le 4 "U" per l'attacco del braccio per le due barre longitudinali che sorreggono il pavimento posteriore e siamo arrivati!!! Non mi sembra vero, lavori iniziati lo scorso febbraio!
A giorni andrò a ritirare i due ponti dal meccanico...anche questi quindi belli e lucidi pronti per il montaggio!    A presto!!

Hello to all and here I am back at work after the summer holidays .... I started yesterday with the chassis (of course) in the reproduction of "water traps" .... so defined by an English observer ..... 5 of 8 to rebuild. Work on the frame joints are now at the end, remained to rebuild the 4 "U" for the brackets attack where will be fix the two longitudinal bars that hold the rear floor and stop!!! It does not seem real, work started last February!
In a few days I'm going to pick up the two axles to the mechanic ... these so beautiful and shiny ready for the chassis! A soon !!

 

 

 

 



Chassis - Part 7

Ciao a tutti,
aggiorno gli ultimi lavori fatti....venerdì scorso è saltato mentre l'ultimo è stato molto buono dove, in compagnia di Davide, abbiamo quasi terminato la parte di fissaggio del serbatoio.
Ci manca solamente di fissare i 3 dadi di ancoraggio alla piastra ed anche questo andrà in archivio....le foto però la prossima volta a lavoro finito.
Ieri mattina invece contavo di finire i lati verticali del fianco destro posteriore invece solo uno dei due è stato portato a termine....sul più bello ho terminato il filo della saldatrice!! Ma anche qui oramai ci siamo.

Hello everyone,
I update the latest jobs done .... last Friday jumped while the last one was very good where, with my mentor David, we have almost finished the fixing portion of the fuel tank.
There remains only to fix the 3 anchor nuts to the plate and this too will go in the archive.... But the photos at the next time when the the work will be finish.
Yesterday morning I was thinking of ending  the rear right side but only one of the two has been completed .... I have finished the wire welder! But now here we are.

 

 

Dal''ultimo resoconto ci siamo quasi, mancano all'appello i 4 braccetti di fissaggio del pavimento posteriore ed alcuni punti sparsi qua e la.....il traguardo del 22 luglio oramai sarà difficile da rispettare ma ci sono andato vicino. Alla prossima!
