Chassis - Part 6

Eccomi di nuovo qui con i lavori effettuati sul lato destro, molto più danneggiato del sinistro, ma che non ci ha dato particolari problemi vista l'alta esperienza oramai acquisita!
Un altro piacevole venerdì sera è volato via in compagnia di Davide, domenica mattina invece ho completato la toppa laterale e chiuso 4 buchi sparsi qua e là e ripristinato l'aggancio della molla posteriore che era diventato un velo di cipolla.
Di seguito anche un piccolo tutorial su come creare una toppa con lati curvi in meno di 15 minuti...trucco visto su "Wheeler Dealers" dal mitico Edd China durante il restauro di una Mini Mk1.
Vedremo se durante questa settimana finiremo il lato destro oppure ci cimenteremo nell'attacco del serbatoio andato completamente perso! Stay tuned

I'm back here with the work on the right side, much damaged of the left side, but it did not give us any particular problems due the high experience gained now!
Another beautiful Friday evening flew away with David, on Sunday morning instead I completed the patch side and closed 4 holes and restored the attack of the rear spring which was very thin.
Below is a fast tutorial to create a patch with curved sides in less than 15 minutes ... trick seen on "Wheeler Dealers" by the legendary Edd China during the restoration of a Mini Mk1.
We'll see if this week will end up the right side or we'll start on the attack of tank!  Stay tuned

Chassis - Part 5

Ciao a tutti, lato sinistro finito!!!! Un altro venerdì sera finito tardi, sempre con l'indispensabile aiuto di Davide....chiusi entrambi i fianchi laterali e saldato il tondino, e le immagini parlano da sole ;))
Ieri mattina invece ho finito la traversa centrale....il "leitmotiv" del weekend è stato: riportare il materiale (nel gergo del saldatore)....quanta pazienza!!
Questa settimana ci aspetta il lato destro, molto molto più danneggiato di quello sinistro....speriamo bene!  Alla prossima!

Hello everyone, LHD over!! Another Friday night finished late, always with the indispensable help of David .... closed both sides and welded the rod, and the images speak for themselves ;)
Yesterday morning I finished the central crossbar .... the weekend's "leitmotiv" was: bring the material (as the welder tell) .... how much patience!
This week we expect the right side, very much more damaged than the left .... hopefully good! At the next time!

 

 

 

 

Chassis - part 4

Proficuo fine settimana al quale ha preso parte lo scorso venerdì sera il mio mentore in una sessione di 4/5 ore che ci ha visto impegnati in uno dei 2 lati terminali del telaio (il prossimo a breve), le più danneggiate e che mi davano maggior tormento dove non avevo il coraggio di cimentarmi da solo..... bellissimo lavoro dal risultato perfetto.
Proseguiremo chiudendo i fianchi e poi passeremo all'altro lato con lo stesso lavoro
Ho proseguito ieri mattina chiudendo altri 3 buchi e preparando i lavori per i giorni a venire.....il traguardo del 22 Luglio si avvicina.

Beautiful weekend where took part in last Friday night my mentor in a session of 4/5 hours that we have been engaged in one of the two end sides of the frame (the next shortly), the most damaged and that gave me most concern where I did not have the courage to try my hand alone ..... beautiful work from the perfect result.
We will continue closing the hips and then move to the other side with the same job.
Yesterday morning I closed the other 3 holes and preparing the work for the days to come ..... the finish line on July 22 approaches.

Chassis - part 3

AGGIORNAMENTO 09/06:  Qualche foto dei lavori svolti ieri sera dopo il lavoro. Ho completato le due toppe ad "L" nella traversa del telaio dove vi è l'aggancio per il serbatoio....un piccolo impazzimento per fare combaciare tutti i lati ma il lavoro è ben riuscito direi e lo squadro è lì a confermarlo.

UPDATE June 09th: A few photos of the work done last evening after job. I completed the two patches "L" on the chassis where there is petrol tank .... a little madness to make match all sides but the work is well done and I would say the square is there to confirm it.

Eccomi di nuovo qui....e con la saldatrice in mano!!
Ebbene sì, ho sfatato anche l'ultimo dei tabù: la saldatura. Nell'ultimo w-end, approfittando del lunedì di festa, ho passato 2 mattinate di full immersion in questo universo parallelo fatto di flash e scintille consumando un'intera bobina di filo da 200gr. Me la sono cavata discretamente direi considerando che non avevo neanche mai acceso una macchina ed è ritornato il sorriso sul mio volto, consapevole del fatto che il traguardo dei "fine lavori" sul telaio è ora alla mia portata.
Spero e confido di finire i lavori sul telaio -e magari anche verniciarlo- entro la scadenza del primo anniversario dall'arrivo di RichRon il 22 Luglio prossimo...sarà difficile ma ci proviamo.
A breve riconsegnerò i ponti al meccanico che rimonterà i differenziali ed il nuovo impianto frenante così da essere operativi quando il telaio sarà ok ed allora sì che vedrò i primi risultati! A presto.

I hope and trust to finish the work on the frame-and-maybe even paint it before- until the expiry of the first anniversary of the arrival of RichRon the next July 22th ....it will be difficult but we try.
I'll delivery axles to mechanical for remount differentials and the new braking system so they'll be operative when the frame will be ok and then, yes, I will see the first results! See you soon.
